A trip to Thenmala had been on our list for quite some time. Finally, on April 9th, while attending the wedding of a colleague\u2019s daughter, we decided to add Thenmala to our itinerary. This eco-tourism destination in Kerala turned out to be a wonderful blend of nature, adventure, and peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located around 60 km from Kollam, Thenmala<\/strong> is known as India\u2019s first eco-tourism destination. Nestled in the foothills of the Western Ghats<\/strong>, it attracts families, nature lovers, and adventure enthusiasts alike. Managed by the Thenmala Eco-Tourism Promotion Society (TEPS)<\/strong>, the place offers a variety of nature-based experiences and adventure activities, perfect for a relaxing Thenmala trip in Kerala<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike popular hill stations like Wayanad<\/strong> or Munnar<\/strong>, Thenmala is less crowded, which makes it perfect for those who want to enjoy peace and greenery. Our drive from Kollam to Thenmala was a scenic one, surrounded by thick forests and winding mountain roads. We reached by evening and checked into Ecoresort<\/em>, a beautiful property surrounded by lush greenery. The resort blended comfort with sustainability \u2014 a perfect eco-stay experience. The friendly staff and delicious local food made our stay even more special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That evening, we relaxed at the resort and enjoyed dinner served in an open area \u2014 a buffet that included barbecue chicken and freshly caught fish from their own pond. The atmosphere, combined with the sound of crickets and gentle breeze, made it a perfect start to our trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
